These clouds were just going over as I got off work the other day. They look more threatening than they actually were. We got just a few drops of rain before they moved on. Near as I can tell from websites these are called "mammatus" clouds and are fairly rare. They are caused by cool air falling within the cloud.

They still look pretty threatening. Never seen any clouds like this before. Very interesting shot and looks like some wild formations in the clouds. Glad your weather didn't get bad. Interesting photo Dan..

Ah yes, Cumulonimbus Mammatus. Sometimes an indication of impending severe storms, and a very rare occurance. An interesting shot of an unusual cloud.
