The South Dakota state bird is in sculpture here. The Chinese Ring Neck Pheasant. Thousands of hunters from as far as both coasts come here every fall to hunt these elusive birds.

Certainly alot of talent being shown in your town Dan. This looks like a wooden carving and if it is whoever did this is very talented.Very pretty birds aren't they? Very nice photo of your state bird. Just curious- Are any of these works for sale or just for viewing pleasure?

My parents keep pheasant hunters every year (north eastern SD) and have for the past 55 years. Close to my heart. Nice shot!

Hmm... I like the pose of the pheasant, but the comp is lacking somehow. I'm wondering if you had to shoot from this angle. Kinda kewl, nonetheless.

A very nice capture Dan. If I am correct... this pheasant looks to be a wood carving. This sculpture is quite colorful too. It is fun to watch wood carvers start out with part of a log & transform it into something.... sometimes in less than 8 hours. Alot of art & talent being shown in your town. Great job on this series.
