This is the Little Big Horn battleground. The tombstones represent the place where the soldiers (including Gen. Custer) actually fell during the battle. Custers body was moved & reburied at the Westpoint Military Academy a few years after the battle.

Actually quite chilling. It really takes you back to the battle a little bit more. Interesting, Dan.

Wow. I'll bet that gave you an eerie feeling as you stood there. It did me just looking at the composition. I could hear the now dead still peace and see the grasses move slightly in the silent wind as I contemplated Custer's last moments. Excellent colors and focus.

Beautiful photography Dan! I love this composition and the whispy softness of the grasses against the stones. Very well done and high marks!

I am still extremely busy with projects but hopefully things should slow down by the end of the summer. Please know that I appreciate you all and will stop by and visit your images as often as I can. My best to all my friends. Sincerely, Carrie

Very interesting! It is such a reminder to me of how little we do for those who risk their lives for out country. We do not maintain this place very well. It's quite sad that we havent changed much as we still do not do much for our soldiers. We don't even pay their medical expenses as the result of injuries they incurred saving us. I am so ashamed!!

I really like the natural look to this with the tall grasses- It just seems to make it look more historical, the way I'm sure the grasses were then.I know you're a history buff like me and I can only imagine how you felt standing where you were taught in school about this moment in history. This will be added to my favorites and also onto my screensaver- Thank you Dan.

I saw some footage of the re-dedication ceremony they held a couple of years ago. If I'd known in advance I would have given anything to be there. I've seen so many maps and documentaries on the trak of the battle and the movement of the skirmish lines, communication and information missed. A disaster on both sides. I like the way they've done the stones scattered across the whole area wherever the remains were found either along the creek or across the open fields. It's one of the few battle fields that's not yet in danger of suburban sprawl. (We just lost a big part of Stones River to WalMart so I'm still bitter)
