Nope, no red lights or sirens on this baby! lol This is an old military type horse drawn ambulance most likely from the Civil War period. Can you imagine riding in the back of this over rough roads & fields after being shot or injured? For painkillers? Here, bite on this bullet & have a shot of whiskey! lol I bet the ride was probably as painful as the injury!

An excellent shot Dan ... I can imagine the ride in one of these was a bumpy one. Then I have had family & friends tell me that riding in the modern ambulances of today is no "joy ride". They would of rather been in an old truck going over rough terrain. LOL. Very nicely done & thank you for sharing.

Friends are like shining stars. You may not always see them, but you know they are always there for you.

Hi Dan, I don't know were you found this wagon but I REALLY like it.
I can imagine the ride in this could be a painful experiance if you were an injured civil war soldier. I guess you could become best friends with Jack Daniels in this situation.
All in all, a great shot with excellent clarity, color and composition. Good job
Thanks for sharing, Don

I think the whole bottle would be in order,LMAO The trick back then was not to get injured if ya could or even a superficial wound could kill ya. Good job Dan, always like a look at the past, maybe that's cause I'm soooooooooooo old now.LOL

There's not enough whiskey in the world to smooth out that ride. In fact, the last time I was in one, it felt just about as bad. Excellent image. Great clarity and composition. Well done!

LOL at your commentary Dan. They probably wished they were dead by the time they finished riding in this LOL. This is such a great post with a lot of history behind it. Amazing how the condition of it is so good. They must keep it under lock and key when not in use. So glad you're sharing these photos with us. I'm really enjoying them and hope you have more.

What a great shot, Dan; well done! The ride probably did quite a few of them in - yikes! Just clone in some whiskey now and we'll drink to the poor souls who had to ride in this! :)

Glad to see they had an ambulance on the scene after Dead-Eye Darla was in town, lol...fascinating piece of history here and a great shot (considering the location of this, please pardon the pun, lol.)

Hahhaha! I'm a medic and I swear that sometimes our new fangled ambulances are as rough as this devil looks! Mind if I share this photo with fellow crew members? They'll get a kick out of it for sure!

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand. ~Margery Williams The Velveteen Rabbit~
