I posted this under photography-water, but there was no listing for ice, and I think this would almost qualify for either! lol The Sioux River runs pretty sluggishly in the cold weather we have been having lately. Thanks for viewing and commenting!!

There are several depths of frozen water on the river that lend a sense that the winds must have been blowing to create those variations. I guess on the plain, there would be more wind than elsewhere. I love the dramatic bend that the river takes at this point and think how boring rivers would be if they followed a straight line. Your perspective takes our eyes right up the curve of this bend and around the corner leaving us to wonder in which direction the river flows from there. I think the top of the picture must be north and the river is flowing southward. The reeds and grasses await the return of spring also. A very pretty winter scene.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Great colours, Dan dear, and most pleasing composition !
Altogether a very good winter scene ...
You seem to be luckier than some of us, miserable Europeans with our hurricanes, rains and plus four degrees Centigrade day and night ... LOL
*retreats impressed a lot and cannot get over after reading Cindy's comments*

Yup, Dan, Cindy's got top billing on this one, literally and figuratively and I guess in a literate way too, not to put too fine a point on it....lol....again the colors have me ooo'ing and ahh'ing here as all there is in the northeast is very little snow and dead, dead, dead colors, well, maybe the evergreens, but they even get a little tiresome around this time of year, but you seem to have waded into some pretty stuff here, just make sure you leave your ice skates at home.....I wouldn't trust any of that rotten ice. Hans Brinker would not be amused :)

It almost looks like a well traveled pathway that now has a blanket over it ..a blanket of ice...

Now this looks cold Dan brrrr LOL. I too like the angle you've captured this at.Your eyes just follow it so smoothly all the way through. The blue of the sky looks so pretty in contrast to the colors of the land . Nice post cowboy.
