This picture is of the top of a historical marker located near where I live. It's the Seal of Dakota Territory. Before becoming individual states and gaining statehood, North and South Dakota were together as one area and referred to as Dakota Territory. Reading the words apparently nobody foresaw a seperation ever happening when the seal was designed! lol To read the story behind this marker and read the marker itself, use this link: Marker

very interesting history about Makana Ota E E'n is what I read in the link Daniel, a different sign to the one you have here, but I liked the story though! :):) ...and this is a very nice capture of your sign, which obviously has a lot of meaning!

Good job Dan, if they would of kept it as just one state it probably would have been the biggest. Na na na na na Texas. LMAO I know Alaska is bigger. :-) Good job buddy.

LOL@Mr. Cowardly. I'm with Patti on this one, Dan. I went to the link also, and thought that the history was interesting, but I couldn't download your picture here to compare it to the story there. I'll come back and try it later. Crystal clear colors from the thumbnail view, my friend.

The pic. I have posted here is just of the seal on the very top of the marker. The story appears on the marker underneath this. :)

Wow, I couldn't pull this up full screen earlier, but I came back and tried again and am I glad I did. The clarity on this is just sensational, Dan and the colors are intensely vivid. What a great capture this is and I enjoyed looking it over. Interesting bit of history too.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
