I was sitting on my deck the other night when I noticed "activity" around my lilac bush. I have had these visitors on & off on summer evenings for several years, but never in the numbers of that night. There must have been 6 or 7 of them taking sips from the lilac blooms. I grabbed the camera and snapped away, but they were a little shy and liked to scoot away before could get a shot off. I did manage to get several good ones however, and with a quick shutter speed "froze" them in mid air! Kodak Z710 shutter 1/160

My goodness Dan. This is very unusual and really stunning. The clarity and colors are beautiful and for one that's never seen this kind of moth, I am delighted to know now how they look. Exceptional work and thanks for sharing it.

You my Caedes friends post the most wonderful images out here. Full of beauty, life and gorgeous colors. For that, you have my heartfelt 'thanks'. I love 'browsing them' and wish there was more time to personally comment on every one of them.

Wow, Dan. This is spectacular. The clarity is terrific and I have seen these guys before. Your lilac is a different variety than mine I see. Your flower heads look more like little trumpets. They are all so beautiful and I wish they were around for a longer time. Your shot is really excellent. I am slow on my comments lately, so bear with me. :0)

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

This is a cool capture of those fast and furious hummingbird moths Dan. The lilacs provide such a great background and show off the color that these little fellas possess. The detail is cool with the proboscis ? extended and enjoying the nectar that the flowers provide. thanks for grabbing that camera and sharing this with me. Much appreciated ;=)
