ONE of the reasons it's called the Badlands of South Dakota is evident by the sign. The other reason is in the old west outlaws used to hide out here hiding from lawmen. I can honestly say I didn't run into either one on my trip here! C):-)

For once I wouldn't be in favor of cloning out the sign. Sometimes they're just necessary!

What a beautiful scene you have here. I love the detail in the background especially. It really needs to be seen full size.

Nice one, Sheriff!

A wonderful capture Dan ... I like the smooth contours of the landscape as well as the colors. Very well done.

Hi Dan....soooooooo you went to my area of the world eh? I sure remember those Badlands!! My Dad used to take a chain along, so when he saw a Rattler, he could just snap his head off! And then he would snap off his rattles, he had a huge jar full of them!! He was working with the Soil Conservation Dept at the time, and didn't much like having those snakes around him on his job!! I'm real glad you found NO robbers and NO Rattles!! People don't realize how bad this land is and how deep it is!! Scarey place...especially of bandits are hiding out there!! Not many trees tho..lol But I'm glad you posted this..sure reminded me of my days in Rapid City! Than Dan...good to see your pic..verena

Great work Mr. Dillon. The sign would be as far as I got. I'm too old for snake and baby rattles. Love the bluff in the background. Looks like a scene from Lonesome Dove. Good post.

A nice shot of a desolate but beautiful area. The sign shows another reason that cowboys wear cowboy boots!
