The head of the Crazy Horse Memorial being carved on the mountain can be seen under the arm of the "to scale" sculpture in front.

I thought about that the other day-the carving they are doing in the mountain. Hadn't heard much about it and was wondering if they were continuing with it. Great perspective, placing the real mountain carving under the arm of the statue. Nice post.

well done Daniel! You have captured the carved landscape in the background perfectly in the space between the arm and horse!

What a huge undertaking this is. I just hope that it lasts as long or longer as the "Old Man of the Mountain" did here in NH!

Super perspective and a great idea for composition.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Nice perspective! If they do half as well as the model, will be intense on that mountain. Light is interesting, half in shadow.

OH Dan!! I am soooooooooo happy you posted this. I have been wondering how Crazy Horse is getting along in getting done. I miss Rapid City a lot...I like the way you took this photo, with the real one being under the arm of the scaled sculpture. But I would also love to see the "real" one...even if it's not done.
Thank you for "taking me back home" Dan..verena

A spectacular undertaking. I like the placement you got and the way it puts the project in perspective. We were there a few years ago, and enjoyed the entire area.

Excellent angle Mr. Dillon. As everyone has said, you did it just right. Crazy Horse looks doubly good. I envy you your trip. I might have to make the trek myself someday.

What a wonderful shot, Dan! The clarity is exceptional! Thanks for this image of Crazy Horse. My son is a Native American history buff and this is definitely going to find its way into some files on my computer!
