I submit this as a respons to phoenixashes nice edit of my photo. My wife thinks Ashley edit is better than mine... ;) In some ways I think so too. ^_^ I'll submitt it anyway since I said to her I would. What I like about my version is that it puts the waterdrops in a good light. (IMHO)

I like this version better...still see the nice details of the petals and the water droplets! I would be interested in knowing the specifics of your edits to this image Klas:-) The original is still one of my faves:-)

The water drop detail in this version is better, but without the color something is missing.

Thanks all of you. I'm very fond of this version too and allmost prefers it in stead of the original color version. I think the details stand out more in this one. Allmost like a real oldschool black and white pohoto. ^_^

The specifics on my edit Darryl, are not so thrilling I'm afraid. ;-) I used GraphicConverter on my Mac, first just a convertion of the color to 256 grays grayscale, then an autocorrection of levels. ^_^ Just like that... I usually never mess with color correction and stuff like that if I plan to convert a shot to grayscale. I was particularly lucky with this shot as it had a great range in the depth of light (if you can put it that way). Oftenly the levels in the shot are not so balanced. In such cases I usually make manual corrections since I find default correction makes the contrast too hard.

I agree that the original shot with colors are better Teresa, but I'm quite fond of black&white shots myself.

Thank you Mr Wiley. ^_^ I appreciate your comment.

Hehe Avi, I think I know what you mean (but I never seen that movie actually.) What I like about B&W is that it makes the subject gain qualities that in reality isn't there (at least for the human eye) It's kind of surreal or "superreal" if you like.

This is a stunning image. I had to download it for my background for the month of February. Even though the black and white might appear to make the image seem sad and dull, I think it really enhances the beauty of the rose and the water droplets on it. This is a really beautiful piece.

Wow Klas..I was taking a stroll thru your gallery since I ahve been down in the back off & on for a few days and I ran across this beauty! I know this is the most gorgeous black and white that I have seen since I have been on the site. This appears to ahve such great depth to it. I can see the veins in the rose petals and the water droplets look like diamonds sparklings. I don't know what the other images looked like, but I bet the original was a beauty also. I am so glad I found this Klas. I have downloaded it to my favorites folder on my harddrive. Thanks :~)
