Thank you so much for the comments, Sally, Katie and Darryl. :) I just love the shapes of the dry thistles. I hope I don't bore anyone too much but I got some more on the way. ^_^
Thanks Darryl again. (You don't get to see all my failures though... ^_^ I'm quite tough in the selection for my submissions here.)
And thank you Avi. I'll try and get out as much as I can in the future too. I've had a winter hibernation of some sort I guess. Time to wake up and get out some as spring comes closer...
With you, I can be demanding... ;-)
The fuzzy thistle on the left in the foreground is a little disturbing. Maybe you must increase the depth of field to have the two first thistles neat... What do you think?
I'm glad for the criticism I got from you Pierre. I highly appriciate that and hope you will give me more in the future. ^_^ There's no better way to learn than to get honest and balanced view points on ones work.
I've been thinking about what you said for a while... This is a matter of taste I guess. I feel that if the first thistle should be more in focus then I need to go with another balance in the composition. I want the thistle in focus to be what catches the eye in the photo. I use the short field of depth to do this for me. I still want the other ones to be in the composition for the sake of repeting the theme and give better depth to the shot...
I have been "opening up" my field of depth a bit more lately though. I too feel that I sometimes can get too small part of the shot in focus. I'm still learning. :) I'll most likely come up sith some more thistle shots... :D I'll try and think about what you said and make some new variations of composition and focusing. My wife tells me to "kill my darlings" regarding my sense of balance in the photos... I guess it's a good thing to mess around and trying to find new ways.
Hi Klas
great capture....i love the absence of colors..just all kind of shades.
Maybe.. but just maybe, the thistle on the foreground should be either blurred more or has increased depth.
But still ..i like this one.
And like lots of others told you before...."keep them coming"
