Contrary to what might be interpreted in the title I actually tried to make it a tad bit lighter then the first version... I also tried to "solidify" the tree on the left and the mountain furthest away plus some small adjustments of other obvious flaws. Please tell me if it's better or worse. Am I on the right track here? I used all images provided for the contest but have used some only to add texture to the foreground, dominated by Carls lovely "SenTree"

I think I like it the way it is now Klas...If I did have an opinion,,it would be to try and lighten it up through the trees! just to get a bit more effect of the light from that georgoius moon!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid I've done it as light as I can without compromizing the feeling of night. I'm simply not good enough to make it better then this. I'm sure it could be done by any other PS wisard but I'm not on that team I'm afraid. ^_^

Hi, I really love this one too. I like dark, but not too dark works and this is perfect for me. Ask me anytime to view your work, I'll be glad to do that. This must be view in full screen to get the right effect and it is great!!

This is better, no doubt about it. Just enough lighter to see more but not too light to destroy the atmospheric feel. I think that this is as far as you need to go...IMHO

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked it. I've tried numerous versions but I'm most happy with this one. Any lighter makes it look phony and the different element looks out of place. The atmosphere is the main thing as far as I'm concerned. There is a tradeoff in details but I'm ok with that in this case.

i recall seeing this b4 i made my own contribution, & it must have influenced me. i like its shadowed areas. the trees are very well silhouetted. but for a full moon methinks there should be more light, but thats not to say that this is a nice composition :~)

awesome, I've been looking for darker images. It kinda looks like a cross between an oil painting that darkened over centuries and a frame of a 1960 movie remake of something shakespeare or edgar allan poe. I might use it for my background, though with these cg images, I usually have the same problem, they are TOO clear... the areas of one color look so smooth, it kinda gives away the digital nature of it. I suggest using a mild texture over the entire image, or just adding a hint of noise. Best CG image I've run into in a long time any how. Keep it up.

Klas,
I'm glad you told me this was rendered on a computer. It looks real. Love that moon and the subtle way a little bit of detail sneaks into the darkness below.. Excellent lighting. and composition. Pat
