Trying out my new camera and lens. ^_^ I know DOF is on the short side...

The shortened DOF actually puts the emphasis on the color and comp which is excellent, Klas. The tiny floral center is a bonus. It may not be as you planned, but a very fine image none the less. (congrats on the new gear!)

I love the color of this Klas! I like the way the DOF is done. The little white flowers in the center are such a pleasure to view. The eye is drawn to the inner beauty of this blossom. The water droplets add that special touch that makes this image glow! Take care Klas. Thanks for sharing this with me.
To the favorites it goes ;=)

I see what you mean about the DOF...I've only recently begun to understand that it's really about how far away the subject of your clarity field is..sometimes it seems that things are at a certain distance, but they may have more height and it brings them into a different range when it comes to clarity..*I'm in quicksand here and going down fast* But I think that's what you're saying and it happens to me often. Spatial thinking helps, I suppose. :)

Ohhh how I wish this were a bit sharper, then I could do a canvas painting of it. I love the colour and would love this particular view of the center of the flower very much. Is there a chance you can take it again? Thanx...verena

Thank you all for the kind comments. I'll try to get back to you individually but I'm too tired after work today... I quite like it with this short depth of field. As you said Alexis it puts the emphasis on the color and composition. It's a feature of photography I'm rather fond of. I wish it was just a little bit deeper though as the stamens and pistills that are just a few millimeters as a group in reality, would look just fab if all were in focus. That's the downside of my lens though. Takes a lot of light, and that is paid in DOF in order to get a decent shot without a tripod. I'm not doing this shot again anytime soon but I guess it's on my wish-list too Verena.

Wonderful shot. Some of the detail being out-of-focus doesn't matter much. The colour and the unique detail are so nice. And of course the little waterdroplets on "the little flower".
