G'day Funky. :)

You've got everything here for a superb self portrait, framing, dynamic background that suits your colouring and also brings out the blue of your eyes. I don't know if you have any photo tweaking software to work on this image. If you'd like I can play with it a bit to give you an idea of how you could maximise the great material you've got already. It is always harder to recover over exposed parts of a photo because the information is gone but some improvement could definitely be achieved with a bit of thought, I'd be happy to give it a shot if you were happy with that. However, the artist is always right! So if this is exactly how you want the image, then I respectfully defer to your own artistic vision. :)
Peace.
Mikel.

Nice background to go with your dark hair. You really need to be further away from the camera though. The flash wouldn't be so bright and your face would probably be more in focus. You've got lovely eyes, btw.

It's a difficult thing to get a good self-portrait. I think it takes a lot of patience and endurance and trying over and over again many times. Welcome to caedes and I look forward to seeing some of your other work. I like the red in this pic...but yes, your face is very over exposed. Try some new lighting, lower lights maybe...and yes, farther from the flash...set the timer maybe...and back away from the camera a bit. I do like the black and white effect of your other shot..Verena
