Hello Kristof!! what an outstanding photo You've really outdone yourself on this one!! I mean this should be framed and hung in an art gallery...the feeling of that barbed wire and then the ice on it...with the particular framing you did...it is fantatic! Talk about a professional photo..this is it!! I can't stop looking at it. Its four am here..I couldnt sleep, I came on here, and see this photo! wow.....it will feel good to go back into my warm bed...!! Thanx for a great image posting!!!...verena
OK, I love that you've let the wire continue all the way across the top of the framing box and left that box in the background. I'm not so crazy about the green showing though. It's pulling my eye to the background away from the wire and ice
I thought it was superb in almost every way. I gave it a 10 in the voting booth. I like the contrast between color and greyscale, between soft and sharp focus. The wire stretching across the entire image was a nice touch. Kudos.
Awsome beautie, this frozen barbed wire of yours. I guess it captures the essence of strong winter. It doesn't boast with colours and shapes. It is cold, rough and cruel. Congratulations
Great picture Kodo. I can't say I could be critical with this one. Often when I feel moved to comment on an image it is because it touches me in some way, whether it be a play in shadows or color, the image tells a story, or there is a type of symbolism that reachs out from it. This one has it all. Thanks for posting it. *bow*
This is truly a beautiful shot, and i agree with many of the comments above. Sice you asked to be critical i will pull out my uber critical eye and mention one thing, that might or might not help it. I was thinking you could have maybe taken it from a bit of an angle so that it is not split as a perfect horizontal line. I think it would be cool to see the line of the fence disipear into the depth of field. But like i said, awesome shot. That is only something that i would have tried if i was presented with this. Nice work.
Then in their trouble they called to the Lord, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of their gloom and darkness and broke their chains in pieces. (Psalm 107:13-14)
you said be ciritcal, so here what bothers me: the bottom barb is out of focus, but the entire wire is in focus, just leading your eye out of the picture. the quasi symmetry is different and it works, but i find the wires just lead my eye out of the frame, so you could do some selective sharpenening and blurring, and i think that would make this picture much more interesting
I just came across this one and realized it was from 2005 - I am still "discovering" things here. This is incredible! I agree with the first comment about being in a gallery -this is professional level -i am no expert, but I don't understand the c-index on this, I would expect it to be much higher.I like your shot because it is so unusual and a great composition.
