This was an experiment ; a 2* converter in combination with a 150 mm macro lens ( in combination with my cameras 1.6 crop factor gives a 480 mm macro lens :-))) ) Next step will be putting an extention tube in there to wich will allow me to focus a bit closer . Full view is recommended. Appraise critically.

You are definately a sniper of the macro world! The depth here is awesome. I love the detail in the eye. What is the background that compliments this so well?

"Appraise critically" . . . . does that mean we're supposed to say something negative about it? Sorry, Kristof, that's just not going to happen!

Yeah, I can say something critically....your commentary...I'm a dummy. What was all that teleconverting convulution magnification stuff? Ehhhhhh? Now the picture is super. What an eyeball. The poor fly is nothing but eyeball. You certainly do have his structure on striking display. I like that background too. This is a keeper. Excellent!

This one just got you a ten in the voting booth. It is one of the best insect shots I’ve seen for a while. The colour, detail and background are outstanding. I expect you would get even sharper results if you leave the 2x off and use more extension tubes. It’s certainly worth a try.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

Wow.. amazingly detailed. We'd never know it looks like that close up! Thanks for describing your camera, too. Although, if you DID focus much closer, we'd get to see what it's digesting, or even thinking!

One could count every hair on it's back. Wow! Lovely photograph of an unusual subject. Quite interesting how beautiful something that we'd swat can be when photographed just right. The colors are gorgeous and gleaming and focus is poifect. I'd say your 'experiment' was successful :) My compliments friend, very well done!

Nice colors on this guy Kristof. i see the area of focus was just behind his head cuz the wing tips and abdomen as well as the wire are a tad blurry on the left side of the frame. But that does not detract at all from a marvelous image.looking forward to the upcoming tube shots.. Well done...

Wonderfull Kristof, experiment succesful i would say! Is it perhaps possibel to change the aperture so that the whole fly can get in focus ?( wings, tail)
