Hey, wait a minute, I only counted 987. LOL This is just sensational, Kristof. Even though I don't like flies, I have to put it in my faves you've done such a great job.
Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.

"To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
~ Henri Cartier-Bresson
kristof, you couldn't get any better if you wanted to. Finest of the finest on this macro. They could have used you when they made that old move "The Fly" "help me...help me." .lol.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Kudos my friend, it's not easy to get an allround sharp capture of compound eyes [I've tried often enough with dragonflies!] but you managed it to perfection here. Narrow DOF focusses attention on the eyes beautifully.
Cheers,
Steve.

Boy you really do have a talent for getting up CLOSE! ... this is another fantastic macro of yours. Absolutely amazing clarity and detail of those eyes. Superb photography.
