I used Cinema 4D for the base render, but then I did a lot of work in Photoshop to change it up.

Nice color. Not too sure about the soft focus, I think I'd prefer it if it were sharp. The other thing might be that there doesn't seem to be a centre of focus here (as you said, it is a bit of a "jumble"... lacking a sense of balance, perhaps? Just thinking out loud.)
