Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is full of big seas and skies. The limpid quality of the light gives a beautiful depth to colours, as in this sunset we stumbled upon.

This really is jaw dropping, but at the same time, it seems too common. Didn't I see three versions of this shot last time I looked at a rack of postcards? Don't take offense, I am just jealous because I don't have any similar photos to speak of. :-)

If I were to say what I like about it, obviously the colors and the contrast. Also, the composition is better than usually (like those little tree-deals in the water). If I were to recommend one thing to work on, it would be the grain, but my camera can't do any better (a.k.a. don't take it to heart). Keep uploading!

The colors and compostion of this image are awesome! I don't ever believe I have seen such beautiful wisps of color in the sky from the sun. These are bold and vivid and look wonderful. Well done, thank you :))

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. With regard to the grain - not sure what you mean here. The original was taken on a Nikon Coolpix 4300 (i.e., 4M pixels) but it was of course necessary to resize the image to 1600 x 1200 pixels in order to upload it to Caedes. In that sense the grain should be comparable with the majority of digital images on the site.

I disagree completely with the "common" comment. There is so much detail in this gorgeous composition. Perhaps I noticed more because I actually put it on my desktop to enjoy it. I love that the shoreline is on the left of the image and the golden touch as the land goes into the water. The sky and clouds keep my interest and that line of trees is the extra special touch. I also would not consider this a grainy photo in the least unless my monitor is letting me down and I don't think that's the case. favorite. Thanks.

Maybe this is a commen shot, its easy to take a snap of a sunset - but i have to say that this is one of the finest shots ive seen on this site. The composition is perfect, the timing is just right, bringing together a wonderful, colourful, deeply profound landscape. An inspiration. 10/10

Sure looks good to me, common or not. It generated lengthy comments if anyone hadn't noticed...certainly not the common (if you'll pardon the pun) "Nice shot. Goodbye". The colors are awesome. The detail is right there for anyone to see...clear, crisp and sharp. Nothin wrong wrong with this capture my friend. Puff yer chest out!

I love this shot. It looks like it was painted on a canvas. Reflection off the water is spectacular. Would have loved to be there when you were seeing this.
