I captured this little hyde park inhabitant on an afternoon walk through London on a beautiful summers day after having done the tourist thing and gone to see the changing of the guard at the gates of Buckingham Palace (really quite a dull affair). Hyde park provided much more interesting subjects to capture with all the local wildlife and picturesque city scenery poking out above the English foliage... This squirrel happened to pop out and grab a nut in a streak of sunshine on the flowering grasses as I had my telephoto lens at the ready which allowed me to get some nice depth of field. Enjoy!

Luke, I like your center composition and you're right, the dof is great. Wonderful focus and a very pleasing image! - Patty

A lovely photograph - great work! Very well focussed and centered and the whiskers on that creature are perfecty perfect ... as are his little ears and 'hands.' The wee flowers make this photo delightful. I do find our friend to be a little dark yet that's a matter of personal opinion. I smiled when reading your commentary and whole heartedly agree that Hyde Park is indeed much more interesting than the changing of the guard. Been there, done that, and if ever I do it again, I'm following the squirrels, not watching the parading guards! Thanks for sharing this wondrous photograph and again, great work!

Nice capture. Could have done with a bit more depth of field on this - but that might be just me being picky. Doesn't stop it being cute though!
