nice positioning (maybe a tiiiiiiiny bit too far right but no biggie)
the shapes in the bokeh are FAB! and help bring the weight of the main attention in from the far right
the attention to and the use of bokeh as an artform is a fave of mine!
great sculpting with the long oblique light and shadows
the white is warmish and with the low angle im guessing its an evening shot. again the use of interesting angles for the lighting are something i like
a nice juxtaposition of the white of the main petals and the rich orange of the stamens at the center of the flower
could do with a bit more sharpness on the flower ... camera shake?
I like the progression of ever opening flower buds to lead our eyes upwards from low down to middle to eventually the open one high up
all in all a very well put together image
an easy entry into my faves
it reminds me of the 100's of such flowers in all their various colours that my mum used to grow and then keep in the house
Can't always give individual thanks but I am so appreciative of everyone's comments and input. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita
Yes, this is a very prettily presented straw flower, and your use of blur is unique to this picture. I can't remember ever having seen it used in just this particular way before. To mention again, as have others before me, that the clarity is very good, with the exception of a tiny bit of blur on the orange of the flower, but that is only seen because of the nature of the macro that brings a microscope to our eye, so to speak. And because the clarity is so good here, one of my favorite things is happening in this photo and and is the light and shadow play of the composition on the subject and also the bud directly beneath it. I like the placement as well, as I have a gazillion icons and they're all on the left :) nice job on this one..as usual :)PJ
Beautiful bloom. I love the bright orange center. Great focus on all the little petals. I'm not sure what is meant by "straw" flowers. They sure are beautiful. Nice render.

Hi there Ruby...I keep looking at this deciding what I like best about this image. I think the lighting is excellent as is the depth of field.....straw flowers are a favorite of mine to photograph. The way the background blurred makes for a unique pattern that is fascinating in it's own way. Very well done and thank you for sharing this with me :~)
