Mount Desert Island, Maine, USA - Acadia National Park. I've reworked this image, one I posted last summer, adding some punch to it. Critique welcomed. Enjoy!
Shoulda ducked before opening this one, right between the eyes..
:oP
Indeed some punch was added. :o)
The only caveat that I have.. ... wait, let's let cambridgeincolour.com 'splain it away. Save your own eyes some wear and tear from having to read another critique epistle from me.
I think most of us have a favorite shot we took and I suspect this is yours. It is so dramatic. It almost looks like the edge of the world. People flocking to see it. Great first time and even greater this time.
The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
A marvelous photo and an outstanding bit of rework, Thad! The sky obviously has top billing, visually, but it's the other contributing elements that I think make this shot stand out and draw the viewer into the scene:
- The thick layer of fog peeled back to reveal the small islands dotting the coastline.
- The many people clustered along the edge of the mountaintop, braving the chill morning air to witness the beauty of this spectacular sunrise.
- The wonderful foreground detail showing the shapes and textures of the rocky ground and the barriers that protect the vegetation from careless feet.
- And that beautiful orange light that ignites the wisps of fog on the right and adds a soft glow to the foreground.
Punch? Wow, you just about bowled me over. Such a brilliant sunset made more impressive by the view and the diminutive people on the horizon. Really excellent work, Thad. I didn't see the first time, but this is just great!
Just as impressive this time around as the last time Thad. I'm too lazy to search and see what I said about the previous version, so I'll make things up about this version. First off I'm impressed you got all those same people to return for a re-shoot; some good detective work tracking them all down.:D
I like the darker shades in the colours. The change in the lighting brings out more of the details in the foreground by lessening the shadows. An all-around great job! WOW!!! I think I like this one a smidgen better than the original. But I could be wrong.
Hello Thad....Wonderful image well composed. The light and the colours captured are marvelous....well done....All the very best to you Thad...................Mick.
