Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. Built on 1838, three lighthouses were perches atop the bluffs at Nauset Beach to warn sailors of the perilous currents and beach where numerous wrecks had occurred previously. One lighthouse was situated on the Highlands of Truro and two at Chatham, thus the three lights notified ships of their location. They were replaced when the red and white steel Nauset Light was relocated from Chatham. The Three Sisters were moved inland about 400 meters and are preserved. Enjoy!

I think there are three mountains in Oregon named the Three Sisters, Thad. Not that it has anything to do with this post.
Your part of the world is very good at preserving its history. I like the light, shadows and information in this post.

Thad, I think when we could ask the three sisters about their inland move and they were capable to answer our question, they would say that they are very grateful for being still 'alive', but they would cry as well, because they can't see the sea anymore, lol.

Thanks for this fine post, my friend.

Regards, Cornelius.

Good perspective for including all three at once. You know I've been there, but haven't been back to the cape for several years now. But, it is such a beautiful place, though very crowded in the summertime as you are aware. Guess that's why we have always gone 'off-season'.

I have never seen anything like this before. I thought maybe they were outhouses in the shape of lighthouses. Very cool shot, Thad.

A noble idea to preserve the original lighthouses this way. They look good in the park with grass around them instead of sand!

A nice play of light and shadows in your photo, Thad. The Sisters are holding up well after all these years and no doubt enjoying their retirement. Good work.

I was expecting to see 3 mountains. You'll have to make your way to Oregon to see them. Your sisters are pretty too.
