San Diego, California, USA. Built in 1943 - 1945, it was commissioned one week after WWII ended. Until 1955, it was the largest ship in the world. To accommodate larger jets, the deck was expanded twice. It saw service in Viet Nam and Desert Storm, as well as a number of smaller scale incidents. Decommissioned in 1992, it is now a museum docked at the Navy Pier in San Diego. Staffed largely by volunteers, many of them served on the Midway during their Navy career, so they spoke about the ship from a personal perspective. Welcome aboard!

That's quite a period of service and an impressive size...the presence of the people really adds to that perception...great angle and shot.
