Cromwell, Connecticut, USA. This week, a monarch chrysalis transformed overnight, from green to black, with the walls thinning so the colors of the wings could be seen. Less than an hour after this photo was taken, the butterfly emerged and spent the next five hours drying hanging on a plant branch, expelling moisture and filling out the wings before flying away.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I saw some caterpillar's on our milkweed the other day along with a couple fluttering monarchs as well. Very nice closeup.

This is fascinating Thad. I've never seen the transformation before except on television. Good find.
