Connecticut River, Haddam, Connecticut, USA. After a long cold spell, the river froze with one-foot thick ice. Substantial rains created flooding, breaking up the river ice. Below freezing weather followed, with ice piling up, and refreezing, creating brash ice. Blocked by a bridge supports, this ice is backed up on the river for over four miles.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

It looks treacherous out there Thad. A far cry from your warm, Arizona shots.
The bridge support adds color and perspective.

We get this on the Missouri River here, every so often. Before it has a chance to flood the lowlands the Coast Guard or the National Guard will sometimes break it up with dynamite, as is seen in this clip.
