Cromwell, Connecticut, USA. One of a number of chrysalises that Monarch caterpillars formed in the garden near the milkweed plants. This one chose on the underside of a fence rail, living in the shadows. You can see the walls are getting darker and thinner, and wing colors are becoming visible. In a few days this will turn black and the butterfly will emerge. 100mm macro, EXIF f/16, .5 sec, ISO 250.
Thanks for the exif data. Well chosen settings in order to capture this phenomenon in the most optimal way, my friend!
