a gator hole...! :) It's not the most artistically interesting shot and I apologize...but I wanted to share this find with anybody who may be interested in alligators. Their claws...they are used to dig deep into the banks of their waterways...and they form caves...many underwater, and this is one I found by accident..in a very remote wooded area. Usually you don't see their caves as they are deeper and shrouded by reeds and plant-life. The soil where they nest is VERY rich in nutrients, normally from "their dinners" and you will often see plants we call "gator flags".

Well, I'm glad you posted it so I'll know what to look for if I'm ever in warmer country. I think the scene is artistic, especially those lovely reflections of green in the water.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

And what might I expect for tomorrows post ... perhaps an interior shot of this lair ? If nothing else Terri, you've got a lots of guts. No sense telling you to be careful ... you're incorrigible. But thanks for the interesting data on gator caves. If it's all right with you I'll digest all that data AFTER I have my lunch. :o)

Very interesting facts there Terri. I'm learning new stuff about 'gators nearly every time you post. Great habitat shot too. Ever thought of writing an article for National Geographic? You seem to know an awful lot through observation and probably spend more time studying them that lots of the behavioural scientists?
Cheers,
Steve.
