My wife decided she was going to get a picture of a Monarch in the yard. Somehow she got this picture of it in flight directly overhead. I thought it made an intersting wallpaper. I don't know how she got the shot. I can't imagine how it could be recreated.

Wow what a capture this is and how she managed it makes me wonder. Saw this in the VB and had to stop by. Sandi

Jeez ... I find it extremely difficult to capture birds on the wing ... but zig-zaggin' butterflies in flight? ... Your talkin' miracle. I'd have to give your wife some praise here. She managed to get the butterfly in the picture, that in itself is an accomplishment.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

I can't recall seeing many shots of butterflies in flight. Nifty shot your wife got. She is to be congratulated.

We do "raise" monarchs. They can be found as eggs and as long as you feed the caterpillars and give them a place to hang when they transform you will have pretty good success raising butterflies. You can hold them while their wings dry. But I still have to give her credit, they're tough to catch in flight.

Actually, this is a faerie wearing deely-boppers. Kidding aside, this is a fantastic shot since butterflies fly like they had one too many.
