in Banff National Park, Canadian Rockies . The lake was such a gorgeous color of icy blue aquamarine with the snowy bare rocky peaks and forests of evergreens...it was breathtaking. I'm planning a 5000 mile road trip in my car across the USA I am going out to the Rocky Mts. Yesterday I made a hotel reservation. I used the Top Secret Hotel Deal from Travelocity. and got the Ramada Inn Salina, Kansas...The website said Welcome to the hot spot of Central Kansas! Live life to its fullest in our arcade and fitness room. Expend your energy in a wild game of ping pong, or baskteball. Make some waves on our new 145 foot waterslide in the indoor pool. Travelocity doesn't tell you what hotel it is until you buy it. The Ramada sounds like a kid magnet and since it's Friday September 2nd of the big Labor Day weekend, I am sure it will be packed with families having a last big blow out before back to school but they do have a free breakfast. The drive to Salina, Kansas is around 900 miles I wanted to do it in one day, but driving 14 hours and 36 minutes straight is rough. So I am trying to figure out what time to leave. But you can't predict it exactly due to traffic accidents, construction tie ups, rush hour in major cities etc: All I know is I will be pretty zombified by the time I reach there....grin! and sure you must think I am crazy driving that far in one day. Diane (the maniac driver) Take care my friends and thanks for putting up with me!

It's still breathtaking for me Diane.
Thanks for this splendid image!
Thanks too for your interesting narrative. 5000 miles in your car across the USA must be a big adventure. Wish you a lot of success, but have to say very seriously as well: "TAKE CARE, MY FRIEND".

Oh my! That is quite an impressive image and a most impressive journey you are about to undertake. Kind of wish I was along for the ride. Always wanted to tour the whole US. That is a lot of driving, Diane, but I'm sure you will do alright. Just get a good night's sleep at that Ramada before continuing on your way. Is anyone accompanying you? Have a safe journey. Will be thinking about you and your travels.

I am sure you will be traveling through Missouri on that trip Diane, so I will warn all the people I can. I suspect you will not want to hear a sound from any kids after your stay at the Ramada Inn.
The photo is beautiful. I would have enjoyed seeing a landscape shot but this will do quite nicely.
Stay safe.

Oh my this is just fantastic. The lake does have such an amazing colour. We never see anything such as this in England as we dont get the snow and glacial melt. Stunning image :)

This is a lovely image Diane, showing the blue water the dark grey mountain with the pure white snow. Don't play a "wild game of ping pong" on arrival ! Have a safe trip!
