I'd be very impressed if he took this, although I think this is very doable with an ok telescope. I think that I wouldn't be able to resist adding some fake stars in. :-)
This is a very doable shot. I've actually taken very (very) similar shots of the moon with only a 60mm Parks Refractor and my Canon Elph S200. The moon is so bright that you can use default exposure and low shutter-speed settings and get almost a perfect shot without any adaptor or mount or anything. I should post some of mine.
He might not have taken this one (because I do see that it is matted -- just increase the brightness in your favorite image editor), but I wouldn't doubt so easily, having done it myself.
I would want to know how you took this picture? Because all my moon photograph shots have failed so far, this is a verry nice detailed shot, I gues it is taken through a telescope.
