Excellent capture, superb light and masterful composition. What it is -- hopefully something nice to do with aquaculture. In any case, Darryl, your work continues to leave me in awe.
lol... I seriously can't make out what it could be... dry ice was the closest guess... its got to be some kind of freezer or something... lol, w/e, it's still a really cool lookin shot.
Mayne, you rock. This image full-scale is breath-taking. Just awesome. You, sir are the reason why I cannot give 10's to many others' work. You set the standard.
My guess is that it's ice crystals that are forming around some type of venting water vapors. I'm not sure how you got the shot from the inside looking out through the vapor without fogging the lens. Good job.
Russ
I am thinking this is the deep-freeze for all that salmon and you've captured the point of vapors immediately upon opening. Whatever it is, I'm with the others on high votes for this. It is a neat image for desktop use.
Looks like your inside a small cavern of ice... You got snowed in!! and you poured warm water on some of the snow and it caused the steam and the sun shining through makes the colors on the evaporating water???? I'm probably way off but the picture looks really cool and the story sounded cool :) Thanks for posting it! let us know what it is! Great job! 10 from me :)
Ok, enough torture of the great minds here. This is liquid oxygen evaporating from a supply tank. The frost is hanging from the supply line at top of picture which is also blocking the sun from burning the image. The gas is so cold that it does not fog the camera lens but it gives a nasty bite to exposed skin It was early morning and the sun was just rising which gave some wonderfull backlighting. The colors come from the refraction of light as it passes through the gas. This system keeps my fishies alive and happy;-) Thanks for all the comments and very close guesses.
haha, i read your comment before i saw it was you, and i thought it was just some wild shot in the dark, thats really surprising, and a very nice picture, even more interesting maybe that i know what it is
But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.
Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.
Hehe! I was right when I let a comment on 'Snug Harbour'. You are living on Titan. Sure!
Not easy to take it with your astronaut's clothes ;-)
Incredible picture!!!
I was getting really close to the answer, but I was working out what diameter the supply line was. ;) That is an amazing picture. The angle where the light is coming in came out perfect.
