Among the dry grass in the Fraser Canyon a young black bear forages for the winter hibernation fast approaching. It was a little too comfortable with my presence for my liking and as he dissapeared over the hill I decided not to follow.

couldn't you have poked him with a stick to get his head above the grass?!? j/k Very nice capture- love the golden color. The shrub in the background adds just the right anti-focus for the balance of the composition.

Hi Darryl, WOW, how handsomely intriging this massive, (while still young), creature of the wild looks! I am with you, I also doubt I would follow! What a photo, very nicely done! Sincerely, Marilyn

Sweet puppy, oops, cub !!! Young or older it nevertheless does not look too friendly.
The picture is very very beautiful. 10/10 for the artistic value and your courage, Darryl, would be worth at least 150 ...

Is it me or are really great bear wallpapers hard to find? Thanks for posting one of the best bear images I've seen, the grass looks awesome and you timed it perfectly to have the bear looking great.

Excellent shot Darryl...the contrast in the color of the bear with the grass is very striking...there is nice detail in the grass...and the curiosity of the animal matches that of mine the way he is partially hidden and peeking through the grass...great job.:Pat.

from the thumbnail I thought it reminded me of my Spanish-Thank-You-Dog (grassy-ass) .. but .. silly me .. that wouldn't be funny now that I know it's a bear

and that .. dissapearing over the hill, thing .. is how he gets all his hibernation mates .. you really missed out

Everything about this shot shouts perfection. Could be the comfort level of the cub had something to do with mama being nearby. Love the color and detail in the grasses.

Top notch photo! Well composed, clarity and detail. This bear is a beauty - he may think that the golden grass is hiding him. The grass is striking going across his face - and I like the way he is peeking through the grass at YOU. The contrast between the golden color of the grass and the bears black coat, is well done. And the small area of blue sky adds an extra zip to this image. Excellent quality Darryl :))

Hey there..this is the first time I've seen this lovely photo of yours...what a charming bear he is...and he let(??) you take his picture? Did you bribe him somehow?? I think you made a wise decision not to follow him...or YOU might have been his lunch? Whew...but this photo is awesome...the deep grasses just make it magnificient!! Verena
