A really interesting macro image, I love the composition and color. I suggest using a smaller f-stop to imcrease the depth of field. A tripod may be needed for the longer exposure though. Good view of the small things in life that often get overlooked.

I know what this! An apartment complex for garden faeries! hehe......how sweet of you to find those things in nature that most of us overlook in our busy lifestyle. You manage to bring them forward and into the spotlight for a few days (or longer) on this site. You are to be commended for that. This is a cool macro. The lighting was a bit difficult? Is that where the blurriness comes from? Or was it really windy when you shot this? I am fascinated by these tiny mushrooms that you made into life size creations so I could feast my eyes upon them! Whew! Well done........again :~)

Hmm, Macro? Tripod? Naahh, I bet it was a big tele on the rocks!
And it looks good. Of course it would be nice to have a little more depth, but the tele and the available light forbid that, I was already shot at 800 ISO, right?
Anyway, another high score for the magnificent composition.

W.O.W. That is just breathtaking -- so much detail, and great color! This is sooo going on the desktop! I agree that a little more depth would be nice, but I'm still giving it a 9/10 for awesomeness. Thanks for posting, and please keep up the fabulous work!

Is there anything more beautiful than a beautiful, beautiful flamingo, flying across in front of a beautiful sunset? And he's carrying a beautiful rose in his beak, and also he's carrying a very beautiful painting with his feet. And also, you're drunk. -Jack Handy

Thank you my friends. The lighting was a bit difficult...awefully dark. It was on a tripod but all folded up lying in the moss,so not the steadiest platform. I really need to pack around a waterproof beanbag to place the camera on for these type of shots.

Don't ya just hate it when you're trompin' thru the woods and you come across a treasure like this .. and you plot and plan on how best to capture it .. and you're just lovin' life .. it couldn't get any better. Your lungs fill with deep musky aroma .. the thought passes thru your mind of bottling the very air found there .. "MUSK by mayne" would compliment your outdoors clothing line "Apparel by Darryl" ... you chuckle at your cleverness. Snap Snap .. the shot is in the bag .. as you turn to leave you realize that you're gonna have to look up the latin name in that .. that .. that BOOK .. The word drips from your throat like venom .. The thought of having homework at your age hits dead center .. all sense of merriment leaves you immediately .. you kick your dog .. and trudge up the cold dank trail ..... It's a very long drive home

It's exclusive to this type of cone? Makes me wonder how the spores travel. Beautiful though, I like the horizontal cone and the stems bending to reach up out of it to stand tall.

Incredible macro. Darryl I would have never get so close to the Douglas-fir cones and surely not that close to the mushrooms if you wouldn't have shared it with us. Thank you for you have discovered a brand new world for me, deep down among the forest topsoil layer .

So this has been floating around Caedes for 4-1/2 years and I've never seen it? It was just my luck to spot it a a feature on the home page. What a gorgeous macro photo, with just the right spread on the DOF, rich color, the slightly dim light suggesting a deep forest and perfect growth medium for this tiny mushrooms. Saved and faved and the URL sent to a Caedes friend who loves this sort of photo but isn't in your comment list so I'm sure she's never seen it. Thanks for sharing even if I did get to the party real late.
