My gosh that is gorgeous!! You know, in the back it kind of looks like sand, but then it fades into water. The orange tinge is great. Excellent shot. Excellent picture.
This is beautiful indeed, it is unbelievable that such a cold morning can give us these warm colours. Love the ducks, create depth in the picture. Thanks for sharing!
I wish I had this framed and hanging on my wall~ What a gorgeous shot Darryl!. The colors are breathtaking as is the steam making the ocean and the sky become one. I love the reflection of the sun as it begins it's day :). The ducks sure seem to be enjoying it too. This is going to be my new desktop for a few days. Sure hope you don't mind :). It looks very warm and inviting & something I would like to see as I enter my office with my eyes half shut! Well done my friend. Thanks for sharing this with us :~)
Brilliant idea, the emptiness of the photo contributes to the overall mood. The only subject: the sun and the glittering water surface covered with a gentle veil of the mist are the mood triggers. Awsome.
Great picture. I love sunrise/set pictures and this is one of the best. The steam coming off the sea makes this shot so unique. Thank you for sharing this, it is a beautiful image.
Beautiful capture, Darryl...love that mist rising combined with that blazing sun and reflection...the hint of the ducks through the mist a nice touch too...great job.:Pat.
You've already exceeded the number of great comments with this one for me to make any useful contribution... ;) I'll settle for saying "Perfect capture!" I think... :) Straight from the camera you say? I have no problems there regarding the cropping and such. With a 400 mm lens you can get pretty nifty shots. ^_^ I was just thinking about the colors... Are you sure you didn't hava any funky white-balance setting or perhaps even the on camera sepia filter on? (The D20 must have those kind of options, no? I have no clue. I refuse to learn the detailed specs of equipment I'm too poor to buy but would really like to get my hands on... ^_^ (Perhaps it really looked this cool though? :P))
I love this shot. The different tones of orange, the bright contrast of the sun, and the composition and focus of the piece make this one hell of a picture! I just wish I could take pictures like this. Was any editing involved in this? Oh, and please tell me what camera you used! :P
Hello Darryl....A wonderful picture of warm colours...This type of shot is not easy to capture, but you have done a great job here...Well done...All the best...Mick.
I knew this had to be yours when I saw it on the front page. You're unique style and beautiful photography gives you away :) Great photo... 10/fav's :)
great shot Darryl.. it has a very eerie feel to it.. like something big happened just before.. the colors are excellent.. and i agree with Pierre, the ducks do add a good focal point to the photo..
You didn't tell me your 400mm had eight aperture blades! Come to think of it, you didn't tell me you had a 400mm either... It better not be the f/2.8 IS version...that just wouldn't be fair. :-)
Nice one Darryl. I have been thru your gallery but somehow I missed this one. I love the colors. It strikes me as being s sunset rather than a sunrise. Beautiful no matter. Mist and fog provide great opportunities for the camera amd you were ready when this came along. That is to our benefit. Nice work.
Pat
Wow! What an excellent picture. It is almost like a painting. It is surreal like a mythical place. Thanks very much for sharing it with us, Math King :o)
