Mt. Edith Cavell glacial pond. As I stood amongst the high mountains and glaciers, I was trying to imagine what it looked like 400 years ago when the valley where I stood was covered with 1000ft of ice. Some of the glacier that remains is still estimated to be 1200ft thick.

Oh wow. This is pretty as well as awesome. That sun with it's short rays hits the spot. I am told we are fast losing our glacier ice. I hope you got a good eyefull of this beautiful scene. How much longer it will exist will be anybody's guess. At least, you captured it on camera and elegantly so, I might add. Well done.

Located few thousands of miles away in the same planet but this almost looks alien to me. Its amazing to know what a magnificent place our planet is. I like the sun which pumps life in to the scene.

This image is so powerful, Darryl. You've got some nice, rich blacks in here that have retained the details well along with clean whites and dramatic composition! I have a Fav dir on my hard drive which is where this beauty will reside! I hope man wises up so it's still intact 400 yrs from now. - Patty

nice image, i find the tonal range a little off, i would like to see higher contrast between the rock & snow in the background ie. darker rock. somehow it still works, although it doesnt really carry a punch. maybe thats part of this pictures effect.

I was just reading an article in the NG concerning retreating glaciers. I think you'd better shoot some more wile you can. They may soon become a collectors item.
Anyway, great pic.
