I gave myself a new camera as a birthday present and spent the following day at the zoo in Schönbrunn (Vienna) to take the first images. What can I say - there is no comparison to my old point-and-shoot Powershot A80. So be prepared to being pestered with animal shots... Taken with the new Canon 400D (Digital Rebel XTi in America) with an old 80-200mm lens at 200mm, f/8.0, 1/400 sec, ISO 100.

Congrats on the new equipment. This is a striking closeup of this beautiful bird. The clarity is excellent as this the lighting. Stellar capture. :)

You did well getting this fellas attention. Very nice seeing him close with all the details. He looks a bit fluffed up :) and what an alert eye! His large bill gives us that surge of red which perks up the scene. Fine work here Mia, and hope you do more :))

I need to catch up on things so can't comment too much. But I love all of your fine images. I might be lurking in the background :)
I think I'd have called this one, "bad hair day". He sure looks like he has bed-head pretty badly. I like this image. I like the bright orange that contrasts with the rest of the image, and the curve and diagonal thing is really a good contrast to the disordered feathers.
