This is a harrier hawk that was lurking & looking at my bird feeder...trying to decide what they wanted off of the table for dinner! Harriers are among our larger native species. They were formerly known as a marsh hawk. They feed off of small rodents, frogs, lizards snakes and small birds! As always, comment, critiques or suggestions are welcomed :~)

He's exceptionally clear and I love the detailed brown markings on him. And because he's so clear, you can even see the green of his eye..perhaps he's just envious of what you're having for dinner. Thanks for the information. I always like to know what I'm looking at. It brings it to a sharper awareness of your subject. :)PJ

Quite a remarkable shot. Truly.

Technically superb as well. Detail and clarity are ... spot ... on. I don't think you could have scripted this momentary capture any better. DOF, exposure and and and ... nice. Really nice work here.

The backdrop serves as a great contrast to the beautiful natural colours of this raptor. Very deserving of the praise this image has garnered and then some. Add in your narrative ... perfect. I do appreciate that extra effort and time in setting the stage for an image.

A brilliant capture and information? It's a good thing. :o)

Thanks for sharing the visual and the literary accompaniment.
