This is a Honeyvine Milkweed that is common throughout Missouri & may even become problematic at times. The seeds are carried on the the silken threads of the pod and in the fall, the weeds stems are cut and used for cordage (rope making). We found this big plant while exploring a State Park this week. All critiques are welcomed. ;=)

Hi Mimi my dear..this is lovely..you know the first word I thought of when I saw this!...'Seductive' don't know why, it just popped up into my feeble brain!
Wonderful work though, a good contrasting of colour and a beauty of a presentation!..nice work.

Nothin' common about this shot, mimi. How'd you do that? The lighting is wonderful. It looks like the core of the milkweed is self lit and glowing. Beautiful post!

Although it does tend to be in my head that this makes my nose feel itchy, it is a beautiful shot. I like the nice contrast at work here.

A really fine shot, Mimi, the detail is so sharp! I'm a little surprised that the seeds are already bursting from their pod, I thought that happened in the Fall. But, you captured the feathery bits perfectly. Thanks for sharing!

I've never seen this before but I think we have something similar here in Texas. Nice shot of this plant.

Beautiful! I am a fan of milkweed (& like seed pods).. there is something magical about the those silken parachutes in the air. Did you do something or is that marvelous lighting effect a natural capture?

Hi Mimi,

This image is remarkably striking in it's nature. You have proven to us that such a 'weed' can be absolutely beautiful, and very appealing. The light of the weed is similar to a beacon in the night, sending out signals to welcome or daring us to enter. I can envision the haunted area to be just beyond, not far from this strange light in the night!

Seriously Mimi, the contrasting colors of this gleaming white light, and the surrounding greens are very beautiful, indeed, striking in appearance. It seems to require my undivided attention, and leaving the light, I find myself in search of intriging and mysterious elements beyond. This is what a good photo should require of us, right? Very well done, my sweetie, a very nice photo, Mimi.

Sincerely, Marilyn
