The Ocean was rolling and this woman was sitting right at the water's edge feeding the seemingly starving seagulls. She had on a flowing skirt and reminded me of a Mermaid washed ashore from the waves. Critiques Welcomed here. Thank you :) **Note the happy smile on her face:)

I figure you are a sad "bird lady," about now Mimi.
Maybe next year.

I really like your photo and agree with the mermaid analogy. Great wave action you captured.

Love the capture, Mimi, and the mood the relationship between the woman and the birds portrays...reminds me of a time in my younger years at a place called Sauble Beach when all the seagulls flocked around me.

A very fine, uncomplicated, and timeless image Mimi. Think that the 'Bird Lady' has their time of her life. Being a 'Mermaid', think Neptune isn't that far, lol.

A stunning shot Mimi - she looks a bit like a flower child of the sixties at one with nature.

Great beach shot Mimi - the different hues in the colors of the waves is really pretty. This lady does look as though she is really loving those gulls.

Thanks everyone for the warm comments. This is a for real, unedited image.

Hubby had his long lens on and I got down pretty low to the sand and shot the picture.

The wind was blowing wild!

A beautiful capture. You see nature on several levels, the birds, the waves, the ocean, and the lady herself. She seems happy. It makes you want to be there.

Love this photo!
Perfect colours and the power of the waves is nicely balanced by the calmness of the lady feeding the gulls.
Saying that, if you went back ten minutes later, you'd probably be photographing a skeleton... :)

An extremely cool and candid capture Meems, one to keep as a favorite, but I'm surprised at how particularly calm and gentle in their approach to the woman these gulls are. On a trip to the area of the red lighthouse at the very northern tip of Michigan's lower peninsula, back in 2001, my son and I watched a woman make the mistake of feeding a couple seagulls. Within a minute she was literally battling her way to her car, about 75 yards away, in a cloud of birds so dense we could only see her legs. Alfred Hitchcock would have loved that particular scene.
