You won't recognize me there because I'll be wearing the mask all the time :) Very nice capture of this beautiful mask Doug. There was a show here with venetian masks a few years ago and I did get some photos. Hope they come again.

Doug, I hope that the weather conditions than significantly are improved, else the people at the San Marco place are not only wearing their masks but have to wear flippers as well, lol.

Wonderful image. S+F of course. Thanks friend.

I wouldn't mind taking in that carnival myself! I went through some of the official website. I was in Italy in 1995, but didn't get to see Venice. During the carnival would be a good time to go, me thinks. Excellent shot, Doug.

I have heard the Venetian Blind Lovers are the best Gibbs. They don't make fun of your looks.
Wow, this is a good one. Wish I could book that vacation.

I like Venetian masks, unlike masks in life.
Venetian masks are beautiful, unusual, mysterious, elegant, gorgeous. They are the main actors such transformation scene as the Venetian carnival.
The Carnival invaded the the gray and foggy Venetian winter as bright sunbeam. And in an instant it blooms with gold costume, silver lace, bright spots of masks.
The roots of the Carnival lie in the ancient Roman Saturnalia - the annual festivities in honor of the god of harvest and agriculture Saturn, which were scored in the second half of December. From here originate and carnival masks: During the Saturnalia the slaves are permitted to sit at the table together with their masters, and to not be the fun marred by professional prejudices, all hide their faces under masks...
Wonderful... very beautiful photography!

Doug - This Carnival must be quite an event, if the elaborate costume of this individual is typical. Your capture is wonderful photography - the composition, clarity, depth of field, lighting, and overall impact. Well done! Thad
