the only way I captured this spiders web was through careful light placement... I will work on steadying my hand!

Nicely done , your contrast might be a bit higher but a fine shot nevertheless .

Hey Nicole,
Great web, I like the perspective,
I agree with Kristof on the contrast, there seems to be a haze (probably the sun),
Having a steady hand is a difficult thing to learn, I suggest you do a search on google, there are some techniques out there,
You could use a tripod/monopod but in some situations like this one, you might not want to take it with you,
One more suggestion, the focus seems to be on the plants at the button, I don't think you were trying to achieve that. On the other hand, the picture would probably turn out too dark if you focused on the web. You do try out difficult situations, I like that!

Thanks for sharing

I can picture you walking as you catch a glimpse of light in your eye. You turn and see this large web. "Now this would be a neat photo", you say. You get an A for composition. Your focus is a little off however. I assume by the photo you had more than sufficient lighting and a fast enough shutter speed to avoid any shake. So my only thought is that your camera did not focus on the right place. This appears sort of mysterious.
