This little fuzzy critter was on my front door one crisp summer-yet-feels-like-fall morning. His antennae have almost fern-like fan receptors or something.. straaange I thought they were only in the UK... must be on vacation..

Beautiful soft shot of this moth - the antennae are very interesting. I'm off to search my bug books and hopefully find out..

Nice shot! I'm in the UK, so you possibly have different species from me, but your moth looks rather similar to the Large Thorn - see http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?bf=1911

Hey Mizzy,
I like it, pulling the subject out of the background,
Nicely done,
I do not know what type of insect it is, 8~(

SO HERE"S THE SCOOP:

Large Thorn Moth ; Ennomos autumnaria
Wingspan 40-50 mm.

A scarce species, occurring locally in a few counties in the south-east of England, although some records are thought to be migrants. (So he's on vacation in Canada! Like several other 'Thorns', it is an autumn species, flying in September and October.

Nice shot! what's funny is that when i was going through the thumbnails in the "new images" page, you picture was right next to a delta airlines banner ad and the delta logo was right next to your thumbnail and of course the shapes are quit the same..i thought that was awesome!
