Went on a day trip to the "Moholoholo Game Reserve " near Hoedspruit. They have a Rehabilitation Centre for animals there, and the following few days I'll post some of them here. This is a African Black Eagle that flew into a high power line, broke his right wing and they had to amputate it to safe his life. Unfortunately he will never be able to fly again, and therefor will have to stay and "work" as an ambassador at the Rehab centre to teach and show people what impact humans have on wildlife.

What a bird's eye view, a very compelling shot! I hope he can get accustomed to his new role in life.

Amazing shot, Marietha... I can even see his eyelashes! It saddens me to hear how this poor bird lost his ability to flight but it's great news that he'll be well taken care of there in the rehab centre. Looking forward to seeing more in this series. So good to have you back!

Marietha, your narrative brought tears to my eyes. So sad what happened to him...He is strikingly beautiful though, and your portrait of him is impressive. The colors, textures and clarity are excellent. A fave for me. :) P.S. By the way, could you explain to me in a PM how to make a link like the one you have done in your narrative? That would be much appreciated. Thanks. :)

Such a sad tale to tell and as Papi11on said it's a good thing that there are such places as rehab centers for animals...in the past we'd have never had the opportunity to enjoy this fine fellow and the way you've captured him. :)PJ

Oh, he's just too lovely, but he is a positive reminder now to humans and for his payment, he will be fed and hopefully live a good long life.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Hi Marietha
I don't usually like extreme closeups of birds, but this 1 is awsome.
Well done
