The eyes in this pictures just speak to me...... These were two of the girls, dressed in their school clothes.. ready to go to the "big school" It was a function we helped sponsor on their year end function (end 2008)of the Rathobela Pre-School, and these are 2 girls that are going to Grade 1. Now when I'm talking about school, it's sometimes hardly a building - there just ain't money for that, but no matter where it is... in a nice building, maybe a dilapidated structure or under a tree.. they are just too glad to be able to learn more.. another thing we take for granted... Thanx for all the comments on my previous posts in this series..

I think this is your best of this series yet. Exceptional clarity, detail and the facial expressions are fantastic.
It's easy to take things for granted until you don't have them anymore or never did in the first place. This speaks volumes!

I would think with our president being sworn in tomorrow, the hope will spread throughout the world. Just a great shot Marietha. Great series as well. Maybe this will help to elevate the people shots on this site.

I have always believed that as subjects of photography, children have some of the most expressive faces, and the pathos comes out even more in your black & white treatment. A terrific shot. Faved for certain.
