A Female Rose-Breasted Grosbeak among the Apple Blossoms. Not to be confused with a female Purple Finch which although strikingly similar in markings, is considerably smaller in size. As with many bird species, the female often lacks the vibrant color of the male.

The male may be seen by clicking HERE.

Great photo John, nice to see this bird and your other post on the apple blossoms, mine are always on dead tree branches. And thank's for the info on these birds, I did not know what they were. They just appeared 2 weeks ago at my feeder. Great to see you back and posting again.

She's lovely, John. This is a really nice capture. I don't care if she isn't as colorful, she's still prettier.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Hello John, Although she is not as colourful as the male I find this slightly better than the other posting - and being a male it is only right that I give her the higher marks. Beautiful shot, sharp and clear with a lovely background.
