This is another photo i took in the Confederate cemetary in Vicksburg,Miss. This is just a small section of graves of all the young southern boys that died during the Civil War.

General Grant began his attacks in May of 1863 and was repulsed by the Confederate Army under General Pemberton. Grant surrounded Vicksburg and laid it under siege until it surrendered on, of all days, July 4th. Both sides suffered very heavy casualties. The fall of Vicksburg gave the Union control of the Mississippi River. Nancy, thank you for sharing this photo with us.
