While out shooting some photos I came across this beautiful pelican, He was floating along in the water waiting to maybe have the oppotunity at a fish that might get tossed back by a fisherman. If you look closely behind the neck line of this majestic bird you can see that this bird had a brush with death almost chocking on some fishing line. A few yards down a fellow pelican lost his life to just that event. Humans not caring about the environment can cause all kinds of distruction and death. Please be kind and take care of mother earth and all animals on it.

This is a crackin take on the pelican Sean....

The colourations and DOF is superb...great detail and composition!....

I agree about the 'misuse' of left over fishing line!...Our swans are always getting snared in this stuff....

I recently posted a picture of a lonely swan that lost it's mate because of it!

Nice work!

Nice pic...and good advice but it will pretty much go unheeded. I have found garbage in places that I doubted other humans had been in. They were not only there but had a party while they were.

Thank you for your eye-opening message that this photo shows! I could only hope that this will somehow help in showing people what happens when they leave fishing line behind!Clarity of the bird's feathers as well as the water reflection is excellent in this image. Thanks for sharing.

~ Lovely capture & sentiment. Sad to say I have seen many a bird injured or killed due to fishing line caught on legs, neck & wings down here in FL. Props on boats get caught in it too. But unless they come up with some sort of biodegradable fishing line, it will always be there since people enjoy fishing. Losing or breaking the monofilament line on snags or big fish is commonplace unfortunately.
