Better colors? I think those are nice as they are - the red leaves seem to jump at you ;-)
But as a suggestion: I'd like to see a little bit more color in the sky, the white makes the whole image look a bit washed out? Even if the sky was not blue, I think some clouds would look better...

I would say maybe boost the color a bit and straighten the photo. Good work though! I like it.

Just fyi the pic was taken on a hill side, hence the slanting trees. I guess I should have put that in the narrative, and the sun had been trying to break through the clouds all day giving that white background appearance.
