There is a bit of noise in the sky (NeatImage has a free home use program that can take care of much of that) and I wish there were just a bit more contrast to the sky (if it was bright miday sun and your camera allows it drop the exposure by 1/2 a point or even a full point).
Now, having told you what I don't like about it let me compliment you on your composition and DOF. Both are superb, it obviously has a very rustic feel and I don't doubt for a minute that one can hear the whistle for miles away. Some might not like the road and power poles to the right, but I think it increases the realism of the rustic feel.
Overall? Quite a nice post. I would crop it a hair more, or better yet crouch down so tat the tracks start in the left and right corners of he frame (as I did with this similar post) - I just think it draws the viewer into the picture more, but that is just personal taste.
Beautiful. I get a feeling of the wide open space and how 'free' it makes you feel. It actually makes me feel like I would want to be on the next train that runs over those tracks....taking me wherever it goes :)
Interesting perspective on this shot. I agree with some of the first photographic comments. Looking at this shot brings that song to mind, I wanna go home.....
Really like the image, grew up close to a railroad loved to hear the steamers come through a night. Thanks for commenting on Home, it was taking in my hometown of Dubois Indiana, all the best to you and your loved ones. Dwight.
